To achieve mindfulness can take a lot of commitment. Becoming more mindful, however, can be done through changing your everyday routine, just a little. Here are a few things that you can do everyday to start your journey to becoming more mindful…
1. Take a walk
Our 21stCentury lifestyles mean that we are constantly distracted, yet always switched on. Take time every day to get out in the fresh air and clear your mind. Or just to allow some time to focus on the thoughts rushing through your head and work out what they mean. Going for a walk is a great way to clear the mind – try to take half an hour out to walk each day.
2. Becoming more conscious of your actions
A lot of what we do is because of habit, but many of our daily habits can be harmful. Set yourself a day to consciously be more aware of what you are doing. It will be difficult to be conscious of your actions throughout the day to start with, but over time it will become a habit in itself. This will allow you to analyse potentially harmful behaviours, such as over eating, and work to correct this.
3. Pay attention to your breathing
Breathing is another thing that happens on autopilot. The breath is linked to your mental state. When you start paying attention to your breathing, at times you may notice you are hardly breathing at all, or you are breathing too quickly. 4. Focus on one task at a time
